Revising the Post-2022 Arctic Security Literature

Arctic security has attracted growing scholarly attention in recent years, particularly after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Commonly defined as the area north of the Arctic Circle, the Arctic has, since the end of the Cold War, largely been ‘shielded’ from geopolitical spillover. However, the ripple effects from the war in Ukraine have led several scholars to argue that this period of ‘Arctic exceptionalism’ has come to an end.
