From fuel economy regulations to electrification pathways: Assessing India’s electric vehicle adoption and battery capacity needs (2026–2040)

This study examines how stronger fuel efficiency standards in India could accelerate EV adoption; thereby reducing dependence on imported oil. These findings highlight that ambitious electrification can deliver extensive climate and energy security benefits while simultaneously creating significant opportunities for domestic battery manufacturing.
